An All American Sport...Baseball

Baseball...the all American sport. It's as American as Mom's apple pie. I never saw what the big hoopla was about until now!!!!! My youngest son, Caleb, signed up to play ball for the first time. I dreaded the venture because I knew it would be extremely time consuming and that I would be the one to taxi him to all the practices and games among all the other things I have to do. Little did I know that as Caleb began to fall in love with the game, so would I. I just looooove watching the game. My heart races, my body shakes, and the butterflies go into a frenzy in my tummy. I can't wait to see who is going to make it to first base, who will strike out, and who is going to catch that fly ball. After an early morning game, Caleb and I went to Blockbuster. One of the little guys on his team reminded me of "Wild Thing" from Major League with his dark rimmed glasses. Then it became my mission to rent all things baseball. I so wanted to keep the momentum going.
I loved this movie but my Blockbuster doesn't even carry it!!!!! Can you believe that???? And who wouldn't want to watch it just to sing and chant along to "Wild Thing....you make my heart sing..." I have to say, I can't believe I didn't have a better appreciation for the sport just for the uniforms alone. Makes me wonder if they had females in mind when creating the baseball uniform...you know, the tight pants and all.Ok, where was I...oh I know (getting lost in the haze of butts, baseball, and Charlie Sheen) Anyway, I had never seen For the Love of the Game. I know, I can't believe it either. My brother in law loves it and him being all manly and all, I figured it must be a good baseball movie Caleb could watch. Wrong....not enough baseball action for him but a great love story for me. Oh and Kevin Costner....Geesh, what a hottie in this movie. Again, the baseball uniform looked mighty good on him too. Poor Caleb, he will just have to let Momma endulge for just a few hours.

Kevin looking luscious in his uniform!!!!! Yummy!

Aside from great movies, in the land of the real world, Caleb landed his first double today. That's baseball talk for, he made it to second base after hitting a line drive right down the middle of the field. I'm learning!!!!!! I was so proud of him! After the game Caleb's coach dedicated the game ball to Caleb for working so hard and progressing so fast in his first year of baseball. What an honor!
As for scrappy stuff, I have a few more new pages to share. Isn't funny how the seasons change the mood or color of your layouts. I am really feeling these bright colors and pastels. So, I found Caleb and Abigail's spring portraits from school last year and knew I had to scrap them.

This next one is about Abigail's birthday outing. We had a Mom and Me day full of shopping, lunch, and painted nails. We had a blast!!!!!

And lastly, I shot this picture of Caleb at one of his practices. I love the new lines by Cosmo Cricket. This particular one is from the Lil' Man collection. Very fun for the special boy layouts and I thought this one was a great ending to my tribute of all things BASEBALL!!!!!!

Birthday, Retirement, and Twilight Parties...I am all partied out!!!!

WhoooHooo...Landon turned 17 on Saturday, March 14th. Can I say that I feel old???? We celebrated by going out to the Olive Garden, his favorite resturant with his friends. I can't believe my baby is getting so BIG!

Daddy retired officially on Feb. 28th. I went home this past week to celebrate his retirement by attending a ceremony in his honor at City Hall. It was a bittersweet moment. I am truly proud of my daddy and all he has accomplished. He has worked hard for many years and deserves this opportunity to REST!

Daddy was presented with his retirement badge by the Chief of Police.

Speech, Speech.....

The Gang's all here minus my husband who had to work.

I thought I would at least throw in a few scrap pages. The top one is of my son and his girlfriend, Victoria. The bottom layout is for a new group I have joined where we scrap our older pics...Flashback Fridays. I raided my mom's stash of pictures when I went home so now I will have lots to choose from for the next challenge. Can't Wait!!!!!

Ok...so I already pre-ordered Twilight but my niece, who looooooves Edward along with the rest of us Twilight fans wanted to attend one of the Twilight parties at Wal-Mart. It started at 11pm and we stayed til 1am. Crazy, I know but the girls will never forget it.

Fireproof

Duane and I saw this movie a couple of days ago and I have been forever changed by its message. I urge every married couple to see Fireproof.
This is the book that was referenced in the movie

I went out and bought the movie and the book at Lifeway's. I am anxious to take the 40 day challenge!!!!!!

Prior to the movie, Duane came home with these babies. I looooooove white lillies!!!!!!!! Then it was off to dinner for 2. I just love surprises like these!
Here are my latest layouts. I recently purchased some fabulous papers from three new lines by Cosmo Cricket. I just love the bright, bold colors!!!!! And a big thank you goes out to my friend Debbie {PaperJunkie} for showing me how to make these fantastic flowers below.

I was given this friendship award by Debbie {PaperJunkie}. Thanks again Debbie. I am truly honored!!!!!!

Toot!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited!!!!!! Basic Grey just picked up my layout, "Mommy's Angel", for their website gallery!!!!!! This is the third layout that has been accepted by Basic Grey!

I want to take a moment to thank the gals over at Creative Scrappers. I had the awesome opportunity to be the Guest Designer for sketch #38. I love their blog for the sketches, talent, and inspiration. You ROCK Creative Scrappers!!!!!!!
If I haven't said it before...I am so thrilled to have the newest addition to our family. Madisyn is my baby sister's first child. I have so enjoyed scrapping pages for our sweet little bundle of joy.

You want to know what I did this weekend? Well, my days are now filled with spring activities. Caleb is now playing baseball for the first time. He really has fallen in love with this all-american sport and I look forward to his first game!

Landon had his track meet this past Thursday and I was able to snap this shot of him during his 100 meter hurdles. I am playing around with my new camera and trying to perfect the "action shot". I really liked the way this one turned out.

Last but not least I have an oldie but goodie. I didn't think I had ever posted this layout before and it is based on one of my favorite sketches by Liz Q. over at My Creative Scrapbook.

Scraproom Remodel

I worked my hindparts off yesterday!!!!!! I was in the mood for change so I started with my scraproom. This particular room used to be my dining room and is one of the first rooms you see when you walk in my house. I don't have the funds to buy the kind of furniture I would really like to have for a scraproom but what I have works for now. Anyway, it looks cleaner, everything in it's place and it makes me feel like I accomplished something!

I looooooove this picture of Landon!!!!!!! I was so afraid to scrap it for fear that I would not do it justice. I wanted every part of this layout to draw your eye to the picture itself. I hope I did just that!

My dear Caleb...he has been an "old soul" since the day he was born. I have scrapped this picture before but this time I used photoshop elements to make the photo black and white and then focus all the attention on his deep blue eyes!

Current Events

Caleb got his first black eye! He was playing football with the neighborhood boys and was elbowed right in the kisser!!!!!!

My dear Abigail's birthday was Feb. 7th. The following Monday, she and I had Mother/Daughter day. I took her shopping, out to lunch at this Chinese restuarant we both love and then she had her nails done. It was a Great day!!!!!!! Here is one of her new outfits! She looks like she took a time machine to the 1980's. I love that some of my favorite fashions are coming back!!!!!!

Zebra stripes...You go Girl!!!!!!

This is my latest project. When I was home with my sister helping out with her new baby, I found this picture on her computer. I knew I had to have it so I loaded it up to my picture gallery and had it printed out for this little masterpiece. I can't wait for her to see it!

This is my tribute to my little sweethearts...Lauren (my niece), Abigail and Caleb. I found these papers at my local scrap store and knew I had to have them!

Abigail, Christmas Day....so tired after all of the excitement!

Ahhhhhh, then there is Valentine's Day...my son, Landon, wanted to do something special for his sweetheart. So he had me pick up some fleece material with the A&M logo. His sweetie wants to go to college there. I had a neighbor show me how to make this into a blanket....easy peasy because there was no sewing involved. Just snip and tie! I showed Landon how to put it together and he did it with his own 2 BIG hands. How sweet is that!!!!!!! Boy, I raised a good one! I took this picture before he left the house to bestow his lady love with all of her goodies.
Last but not least, one of my sweet gals from my circle of friends on scrapbook.com sent me this award. Thanks Debbie! I am to pass this on to five other ladies...First I will have to see who has not received this prestigous award! Have a Good One!!!!!! Hugs and Kisses, Kim

I am a computer JUNKIE!!!!!!

Ok, so much to tell and not a whole lot of time to do it! Really, my stomach is grumbling telling me that it is time for food...not that I need too much food but that is a whole other story! Anyway...I will admit it, I am a computer JUNKIE! There, I said it. I have lived and barely survived 8 days 8 hours and 21 minutes of no computer but hey, who's counting! I am now up and running that is, the internet is up and running and I am going crazy trying to catch up on all the stuff I have missed. Crazy, huh?????

This is what is going on in my life as of now...Caleb, my younger son has signed up to play baseball this spring. So all those beautiful curls he is sporting in the picture below has now been removed. He decided he would go for a much cleaner "jock" look while playing ball. My baby girl, Abigail has a birthday coming up...NINE years old. OH MY GOSH, time sure does fly by. I wish they didn't have to grow up so fast!
More news, Landon, my oldest son got his letterman jacket. Forgive me while I brag a little (you know that is what us moms are good for). Landon was 1 out of 3 freshman to letter in track his freshman year!!!!! (he is a sophmore this year) At his banquet last spring, Landon was awarded the student with the most track points earned out of the entire freshman team. He was honored by having his name engraved on a plaque that will remain in the school for years to come!!!!! Yes, my kid did that!!!!!! I am so proud!
While I have been living in the desert of no technology or internet I threw myself into my craft. I will however not show all of the layouts I created here for it would just be more than your eyes could bear. Seriously though, I worked on a few projects and I have some exciting news to share but I don't want to say anything yet. At least it is exciting to me. Ok, have a peek at what I have been doing and I am going to go and feed the beast within......I'm starving!
