Absence makes the heart grow fonder????

Hello my dearest friends. Been a while I know. But I have not been sitting around and doing nothing....oh no!!!! I have been reading, celebrating the big 40, having gall bladder surgery plus another extended stay at the hospital, and studying the world of Art Journaling. Pinterest has been my best friend for several months now. I have been so inspired by a few artist such as Limor Weber, who by the way has a u-stream class on Tues. nights. Tracy Weinzapfel also has a u- stream class on Mon. nights. Both of these ladies has mixed media groups on Facebook. I am also in the process of taking a couple of classes by Christy Tomlinson and the next class I want to take is a Pan Pastels class by Donna Dowñey. So as you can see I have been a busy girl. Oh, and have you seen all the fabulous new products by Dyan Reaveley? I have once again busted my husband's wallet....I just love all the wonderful paints, sprays, stencils, et.....

Since you have been so wonderful and have not abandoned my blog, I promise to be more active on here once again. Now here are a few items I have been working on in my art journal......"

Hello Friends....

Wowza!!!!! It has really been a long time since I last posted. I have been recovering from some health issues but am on the road to recovery, (God Willing)!!! I just wanted to stop in and let you know that I am still alive and still creating but in a different way. I can't say that I have scrapped in quite a while but I can get up to my elbows in paint and glue in 5.2 seconds!!!!! LOL!!!! Don't get me wrong, I miss scrapbooking but my creative juices were lacking and I just needed a break to rebuild that passion I once had. So that's all there is in a nutshell. Kids are about to start school, football, dance, theater, etc.....Life is about to get pretty hectic, but I wouldn't change a thing!!!!!!!!

This was done with a class by Junelle...love her....and my first attempt at water painting.

Again an art journal entry from Junelle's Wild art of Abandonment...bringing in the spring!!!!

Thanks for reading my babbling...Hugs to you all and God Bless!!!!!

On a Roll...

Wow, I can barely believe it myself, but I have really enjoyed scrapbooking again. The reason I say it like that is because aside from my recent Imaginisce assignment, I just haven't been feeling it lately. I think that is why I have been stretching my wings into mixed media art and sketching. Yet, here I am, 2 1/2 months later and I find myself drawn towards all my scrap goodies once again. Take a look at these....

I hope you are inspired to pull out your scrap stash....come on and scrap with me!!!! I think my next challenge to myself will be to stamp and make more cards! That may be a breeze for you but it is actually a little bit of a stretch for me...not in my comfort bubble. Before all is said and done, I intend to have had a hand in many crafty projects!!!!!

Well, off to watch American Idol!!!!!
Hugs xoxox,

Did you Know????

Hi Friends!!!! Did you know that I was published in the November issue of Scrapbook Trends? Needless to say I was thrilled to see my work in print!!!!

Did you know that I once studied for Nursing???? I currently have 70 hrs. towards an associate's nursing degree. But, my disc herniated and things kept getting worse with my back that I decided to just put that dream on the back burner. Now I don't see me ever finishing, but I will always have a love for medicine and the nursing profession.

Did you know that after living in Texas for almost 8 years now, I finally took pictures of one of my children in the Bluebonnets???? I knew my boys would never want to sit and pose in the flowers so I grabbed Abigail after school the other day and drove over to a patch of Bluebonnets.

Did you know that I am a closet smoker??? I feel like those women from long ago who would only smoke in the privacy of their own homes and "Lord forbid if anyone found out". Yes, I am a closet smoker and am in the process of trying to quit. It is a tough battle but I am making great strides.

So, I think in an effort to try and purge myself of my thoughts, dreams, habits (good or bad), and desires, I am going to have "Did you Know" Mondays. I think as women, we  need each other for support and kindness...truth and love. We need to let each other know that in this journey we call life, that we are not alone.

I hope you have a wonderful start to a fabulous week ahead!!!! Get creative, get inspired, or go to a quiet place and find your inner artist that allows you to craft, scrap, paint, or whatever your heart desires!!!!!

Hugs,
~K~

Happy Easter!!!!!

Good Sunday Morning Friends and welcome to my blog post!!!! I am so thrilled to be celebrating this day, the day my Saviour was Raised from the tome, the stone was rolled away and He Lives!!!! I hope that all of you are enjoying this day with those who are special to you.

Today, I just wanted to share a few things I have been up to this weekend. I have kind of been taking a hiatus from scrapping...recharging my batteries and learning something new. But, I felt the tug to my table and was ready to tackle a few pages. Here is what I did....

I had so much fun playing with all of my scrappy stash....mostly unused kits that I have not been able to play with yet except for my Studio Calico stuff.

Well, that is all for now...Have a fantastic Easter Sunday!!!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank YOU!!!!

Hello my friends!!!!  I stayed up late last night working in my art journal and got so caught up in the process that I lost track of time. Don't you love that???? When you have a thought or a cool concept and you just cant' stop until you see it to fruition!!!!  Art journaling is very new to me and I am still learning a lot of new techniques. I am currently taking The Art of Wild Abandonment workshop with Junelle Jacobsen and Christy Tomlinson. Love Love Love this class and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to venture into the world of mixed media art.

I want to take a moment to thank Imaginisce for having me as their March GD. I also wanted to thank all of you who came by my blog to check me and my work out plus all of your wonderful and kind comments. Wow!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!

A Resting Period

Hello to all my Scrappy Friends!!!! I just wanted  to fill you in on what has been happening in my life these days. The last month has been really exhausting. Just to name a few things....my brother got married at a beautiful plantation home in Natchez, MS....

My parents came to visit and brought my nieces with them for me to enjoy.....

A very dear first cousin of mine passed away suddenly due to an unforeseen heart condition. He was only 36 and had gotten a new lease on life from past mistakes. My heart ached to see such a young spirit leave this world so early.

My health has been giving me fits....nerve pain in my both of my legs due to 2 back surgeries and multiple spine injections. The pain can really wear me down sometimes....which has lead me to the conclusion that I need to slow down a bit. At least until I can come to terms with a few things.

Spring break was spent in Louisiana with family...we had a wonderful time!!!! I took my art supplies with me and created 3 canvases for all 3 of my nieces.

So, that is what I have been up to. I have a few more things up my sleeve that I will be sharing soon. But, overall I will be trying to pace myself...slow things down and work on "me" a little bit. I am finding more facets of myself that I am embracing. Learning to love who I am now and trying to appreciate the good days.

Hugs to all of you!!!!!

SheArt...

Hi there!!! Just wanted to stop by and show you what I have been up to. I started taking the SheArt I class by Christy Tomlinson. You can find all the information at the Scarlet Lime kit club website. I have never felt more relaxed and at peace by just letting go and create!!!! I will definitely be looking into the other workshops Christy has as well. I love working on the girls, but I think I will move on to other scenes as I grow and learn. I am having so much fun!!!!!!

Finally....

I want to apologize for the delay in posts...sometimes life just gets in the way. I have had a death in the family, then a wedding. I have also had family in town staying with me and friends who were previously here on the weekend. So, life has been very hectic!!!! But so much for all this chit chat...I know you would probably like to see some of the crafty stuff I have been up to.

Hope you are feeling inspired....

I am Hooked!!!!!

My wonderful friend, Susan Dupre, invited me over to explore "SHE" Art. Let me tell you, I am totally in love!!!!! I made this one for my daughter, but now I can't wait to make another one and another one!!!!! All I can think of now is my list of supplies that I want to purchase next time I go to Michael's. This has completely released my inner artist and I am just so very excited about all the possibilities!!!! My next venture will be taking the class by Christy Tomlinson!!!!
I just wanted to share my joy with all of you!!!! I wish all of you a wonderful weekend!!!!!

Short and Sweet....

He Scrappers!!! Today will be short and sweet. I have not been feeling well, now my son is home sick too.I do however, have a few layouts to share. Here ya go....

I have really loved working with my scrap stash. Trying to move some things out of the way before I go crazy, buying up all my new faves from CHA. I also wanted to try things out of my norm.  I personally love the direction some of my pages have taken...very spontaneous and carefree. I have never been one to stay the same...I love change. Change makes life interesting. I challenge you to try some new things this weekend. Go ahead, give it a shot!!!! It just may be the next best thing that separates you apart from the rest.
Have a Wonderful Weekend!!!!

Sketchabilities #64 and More....

Sorry this is late....I have been lost in my kindle. Over the last several days I have read the entire "Hunger Games" series. Oh, it is just so spectacular and riveting and full of twists and turns. It is the best series I have read since the "Twilight" books!

Ok, on to scrappier things!!!! Sketchabilities is back with a fabulous reveal!!!! Here is my take on this awesome sketch....

Now, I hope you take the opportunity to go here to check out the rest of the design teams creations.

Here are a few layouts I also wanted to share. I have been working at my table quite a bit...working with older lines and kits that I have been holding on to. Since I am no longer working with a kit club I find myself with plenty of time on my hands to just scrap. Surprisingly, it has been really nice to just scrap with no deadlines.

This is made with Jillibean Soup's "Sweet and Sour" line. My title is in honor of my son's favorite book. Landon has already called dibs on the book "Love you Forever". He says he wants to read it to his children one day. Awwwwww, makes my heart go pitter pat!!!!

This layout is made with Bo Bunny's "Crush" line. Caleb thought it was a little too "Girly" for him but I explained to him that he is boy enough to handle a little pink. LOL!!!! He's such a hoot!!!!! Thus the owl!!!!!

This last layout is made with Bella Blvd's "Making the Team" line. I just loved this picture of Abigail during her Fun Run for the schools in our area. This occasion has inspired her to sign up for Cross Country next year. I can't believe my baby girl is going into the 7th grade!!!! Sigh!!!!! Life goes by so fast!!!!!! Thank God for pictures!!!!! Hope all of you are having a beautiful day!!!! Hugs to all of you!
