Monday

Another great reveal over at Creative Scrappers!!!!! Please go and check them out at http://creativescrappers.blogspot.com/

Being a lover of sketches...which I consider the blue prints of a great scrapbook design, I found this one by Kristine Davidson who is also the creator of Creative Scrappers. I am on a little bit of a Glimmer Mist high so bare with my obsession for just a while longer. The layouts above and below I have used two beautiful lines by BoBunny. The flowers above are made with the retro flower punch by EK Success. If you ever have any questions about a technique or product please don't hesitate to ask. I love this craft and I looooooove sharing it!!!!!!

Another new fave is Jilliebean since they have a wide variety of all things Kraft. Seems to be a growing trend, Kraft paper that is, and I am loving it. Also Crate Paper never ceases to amaze me with their fun product lines. Below is my oldest son with his girlfriend and my daughter at his birthday dinner last year. I can't believe how much time has flown by...in another 2 1/2 months he will be 18!!!!!! I cannot not believe I am about to be the mother of an 18 year old...a man. Ughhhhh, I am filling the stir of butterflies in my stomach or maybe it is the early pangs of empty nest. Either way, I have one more year with him being at home and I am going to enjoy every minute of it!!!!

Christmas time has fallen upon us once again. This year I let the kids totally take the reigns of the tree. If you knew me, you would know that that is a hard thing to do. I am so like my mother in the sense that I am somewhat of a decor perfectionist. Anyway, I have to say, they did a great job and they had fun which is something they will remember. Gotta love that!

Little Things Make Me Happy

How was your Thanksgiving Holiday? Mine was low key but very memorable. This year was spent with just our immediate family; all the relatives are back home in Louisiana, yet it was one of the best days I have had in a long time. My kiddos came to my rescue and helped me with the prep work in the kitchen. It was so nice to be surrounded by my babies....reminded me of when I use to follow my mom around in the kitchen. I would watch everything she did while talking her ears off about all my girl issues or the latest boyfriend. To now have my own kids doing the exact same thing is so deja vu.

After that was my baby boy's birthday. Happy Birthday Caleb!!!!! He is now a tween!!!! I can't believe how much he has grown. When he was a baby I would always call him my little man. As he got older, I recognized something in him that was so unique....he had an "old soul". So today as he begins his journey towards middle school and that awkward stage of "tween-ness" (I made that up), he is still my little man with an "old soul". I love you Caleb!!!! May all your wishes come true!

"Love You BABY"....This is my oldest son Landon and his girlfriend. I LOVE Cosmo Cricket's "Earth Love" line. I thought they worked perfectly with these pictures.

Hope all of you had an awesome holiday and a restful weekend. Hugs and Happy Scrappin!!!!!!

Creative Scrappers Reveal...Sketch #79

Today is another reveal day over at Creative Scrappers!!!! Go check out the amazing sketches and get busy scrapping!!!!!

This is just an extra layout I did the other day. I so love this picture of my mom and dad. They are such a fun couple and continuously keep me laughing. Speaking of fun, I had a lot of fun playing around with this new line from Crate Paper and to add a little bit of whimsey, I made this branch with my quickutz revolution and made the leaves with stickles. I think it turned out really cute...just what I envisioned for this picture.

Hope your having a great weekend!!!!! Much love!!!!!!!!

Glee, Jillibean, and Stuff...blah, blah, blah

Have you been turned on to Glee??? I just LOVE this new show!!!! I have always been a fan of musicals but add humor and a great cast and you have a recipe for Awesomeness!!!!! Such a refreshing change from all the dramas I am usually drawn to but not the "slap stick" comedy that seem to run in 30 minute intervals and is just plain stupid....just my opinion. I have not seen good comedy since Friends or Jerry Seinfield. But most of all, I love the music. The talent on here is just phenomenal!!!!!!! So, if you haven't noticed I have my playlist set to the latest songs done by the Glee cast. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend that you do.
Don't you hate it when you go shopping with a certain product in mind only to be disappointed because they don't have it???? My dear husband happened to be off this past weekend, which is a rare occurrence, and volunteered his time to take me to Archievers. For those of you who don't know, Archievers is fab scrap store. Anyway, I had gotten an email from them stating that they had Jillibean products in stock! I was beyond thrilled!!!!! Once I arrived and found the display of a limited supply of Jillibean goodies, I was sadly informed that the only line they had was the Christmas papers. Boo Hoo...I envisioned coming home with my arms full of Jillibean goodies and was sadly disappointed. That's ok, I still managed to rack up on some fab new products but I just really hate disappointment.
Here's a few layouts I have been working on.....ENJOY!!!!

Inspired

I love to be inspired. I love the rush that you feel when you have that "light bulb" moment and all the pieces fall into place. That is what scrapbooking is like for me. I look at a sketch, new product or someone's layout and I am totally inspired. My love for scrapbooking continues to evolve as I meet more and more fellow scrappers who are constantly sharing designs and techniques through online scrap sites or blogs. As I drop off a few of my latest pages I want to thank all you who inspire me. The Scrapping world has a wealth of creativity just ooozing with talent...but most importantly I have been blessed with a wealth of friendships and a common bond that we all share. Nothing inspires me more than to chat, meet, or develop new relationships with all of you amazing Scrappy Women! What inspires You?

Oh What Fun!!!!!

What an awesome fall season this has been so far. Halloween was such a blast!!!! My parents were here and stayed for my birthday. I dressed up in a costume for the first time in years and so did my momma! Abigail and I were Pirates, Caleb was some kind of creepy clown and my mother found this awesome Witch costume. Landon, being the cool teenage dude that he is, attended a bon fire with friends and no costume this year. Pooh...I hate that time flies by so fast and kids grow up too quickly.

No scrappy projects this week, but stayed tuned to Creative Scrappers for the Sunday reveal!!!! It will be my first reveal for the design team and as always an awesome new sketch for your inspiration!!!!!

What's going on.....

OMGosh.....so much has been happening lately I can hardly keep up. But I do love to stay busy so I'm not complaining what-so-ever! Let me start with the bad stuff and then work towards the good stuff.

I don't know if you have heard of Degenerative Disc Disease. I personally knew nothing of it until I was given the diagnosis 3 years ago. To make a long story short, it started with a herniated disc at L5-S1. I had a microdiscectomy almost 2 years ago after months of conservative treatment and it was somewhat of a success. One month ago as I was going up the stairs and bending over to merely pick up one of my kid's books, I felt a shock go through me and my legs would not move forward....seriously, I would think "leg, step up" and nothing would happen. So I started backing up slowly down the stairs and made it to my couch. Then the pain started to spread from my back down my legs. It was excruciating! Since then I have discovered that I not only have a herniated disc, I now have 2 more bulging disc and arthritis that is causing some narrowing of the bone where the nerve bundle goes through. The bulging is causing nerve pain again to my right leg and I have chronic pain on a daily basis. I think what upset me most was when my doctor told me I now qualified for handicap tags on my car and possibly disability benefits. Believe me when I say I am not one to feel sorry for myself but even I was a little blown away by all of this. I have my good days and bad days but I have a positive outlook on life and I am truly blessed in many ways.

On to the good stuff....

Homecoming was this past weekend. On Friday Landon had to "Dress to Impress". Over here in Texas it is all about the mum. Now me, being a Louisiana girl, was clueless to this tradition. Apparently the guys buy this mum (as pictured below) for the girls and decorate it with all kinds of ribbons and toys, etc.....the girls buy a garter mum for the guys and decorate it with the same. I guess it really is true that Texas does everything BIG!!!!!!! LOL! All kidding aside, it was really sweet to see Landon and his gang of friends together before school prepping for the big game day.

Next came the Big Dance....Homecoming!!!! This was bittersweet for me. I love that my son is getting to experience things I deem a "rite of passage", but I also feel like he is growing up so fast. It seems like just yesterday he was my little boy and now he is this amazing young man. Sniff, Sniff.....very overwhelming!!!!!!

Of course I have to drop off a few layouts. I have been having fun with these new Halloween papers from Basic Grey. They are so fun and PERFECT for all my Halloween pictures. I really struggle with holiday themed layouts. How about you?????

Next is a layout I did from a sketch by "SuePup". Those of you from scrapbook.com will now who I am talking about. I am trying out some new techniques with masking. I have had a stash of Glimmer Mist sitting in my scraproom for over a year now and I am finally starting to venture out and experiment with it. It is sometimes hard to get out of my comfort zone but I am really pleased with the results. These beautiful papers are all Prima. Prima has become my best friend when it comes to all things "Girly". Since I only have one gorgeously amazing daughter, I tend to really embellish and "girl-it-up" as much as I possibly can.

Last but not least...if you are still reading at this point, I took my husband to the airport yesterday. He will be in Salt Lake City, Utah for 2 weeks participating in engineer training for Union Pacific Railroad. This has been a dream of his for the past five years. I am so very proud of him and excited to see him grow in this company. My husband is such an intelligent man and always enjoys a challenge so this will be right up his alley. I love you Duane....you are my ROCK!!!!

On the Mend

Hey Folks....been flat on my back for a while. I even made a trip to the ER in a real live ambulance. Cool huh????? NOT!!!!! Seriously, I have a herniated disc AGAIN!!!!! I had surgery nearly 2 years ago and I had hoped I would not have to repeat this process for a while but unfortunately things did not go as I had planned. Oh well, it is what it is and life goes on. Tomorrow is my 5th MRI since this all began 3 years ago and as usual, I am not looking forward to it. I do not wish this kind of pain on my worse enemy, well maybe just a little...LOL!!! Enough of me...I just wanted to drop off some new stuff...that's me, always sharing!!!! I will be glad when I can get back to my table to work up some more magic. Until then, Enjoy!!!!!

Addictions

Addictions....I have an addictive personality. Once I find something that interest me, I obsess over it!!!! Just like the Twilight Series. Now I am addicted to gorgeous vampires and all things supernatural or as Sookie calls them, "Supes". I have recently been turned on to the Stackhouse Series and I have been unable to put them down. I have just finished book no. 5 and can't wait to take a bite into no. 6. These books are the foundation of the True Blood series on HBO but very loosely based. What makes these books even better is that the author chose Louisiana as its location...my home state!!!

Of course my other addiction is scrapbooking...I just placed another scrappy order for some lucious Lemonade by Basic Grey and the new line from Pink Paislee called Twilight. Oh how appropriate to intermingle my two loves...Scrapbooking and dreamy Vampires! Gotta love it!!
