Just a Tease!!!!!

Happy Sunday folks!!!! Well after finally settling down I have come to the conclusion that I am a very bad bad blogger!!!! There was a time that I loved blogging. I think it all began when my computer needed repairing. Soon after that my sweetie bought me an I Pad for my birthday and it went all down hill from there. I Pads are a wonderful invention but not very blogger friendly. Anyhoo, my point is, I promise to do better!

On to the show!!!!! And what do I mean by that???? Well, I have a little sneak peek of a tease for ya!!!!! First of all....Scraps of Darkness has revealed their July bomb shell of a summer kit!!!!!! It's name is "Gypsy Summer" and it is so striking, so bold, so Fabulous!!!!!!!!

Next  is just a little Tease of what's to come.....

This layout is based on the sketch provided in the kit. I am so in love with these Graphic 45 papers. They are so perfect for so many different themes...especially "LOVE". On this layout, I started out with a Prima chalk ink and some gel matte medium. I initially used Lime Pie green but the gel medium turned it this pretty shade of yellow which worked out perfectly to match with my yellow flowers. After I border punched the sides and distressed the edges of my papers I used a moonshadow spray by Lindy's Stamp Gang. I so love the multi-dimensional color you achieve with the sprays. Next I just took some turquoise starburst spray and applied some drops of color by taking off the spray nozzle and shaking it onto different areas of my page. The rest is just layering and adding the embellishments. I hope you have enjoyed this little sneak peek and I ask that you stay tuned as I and the rest of the design team will be making the big reveal on July 30th.

Thank you so very much for stopping by and until then go by and get your "Gypsy Summer" kit!!!!!!!!

Round Robin Challenge

Have you heard of the Round Robin Challenge? Well, I am participating in this challenge for my first time over at the forum of Scraps of Darkness. Have you joined this kit club yet? I urge you to come over and check us out and we will make you feel right at home!!!!

Here is the layout I made for my team. Now the next person in line has to scraplift my layout. On this page I used lots and lots of Shimmerz, as well as modeling paste and stamping. I wanted lots of layering and lots of texture and dimension. I absolutely love the outcome. The papers I used are from the Divine collection by Prima. They fit perfectly with the beautiful moment I captured of Abigail putting on her tap shoes for her very first class. I'll never forget that day and how far she has come since then. At the bottom I used one of the frames with the word "Goal" centered in it. I wanted Abigail to remember that when she set her goal of learning to dance, and by never giving up, she could achieve it and the skies the limit from that day on.

Here are some close-ups of my layout....I hope you can see bits of all the shimmery goodness as well as the layers I used to build my page.

Love is Family

Hey Scrappers!!!! Hope your day is going well! I just found out that I am going to need glasses. Boy, that was a humbling moment and it made me feel old!!!! Oh well, it happens to all of us. I'll show you me and my glasses when they come in.
Here is a layout I have been working on the last few nights. Night time seems to be my most creative time. This page is as usual, full of layers, mists, gesso, and flowers. I can not tell you enough how much I looooove this Lifetime line by Prima. If you haven't noticed, I have used it quite a bit.

Here are a few close-ups...

Look at that beautiful shimmer by Shimmerz!!!! Love that stuff!!!!!!

Well, gotta run. Kids have places to be. I hope to see you get creative and I hope that I have inspired you to use more of your Lifetime papers. Feel free to leave me some love!!!!

"I Love you to the Stars" and "Spring is Near"

TGIF Everybody!!!!! Aren't you so glad for the weekend???!!!! I have a few layouts to share. The first one I did was based on the Prima BAP sketch. I started off building my layers with wall tape and gesso. Then I stamped over my tape with one of the Prima Engraver stamps. I layer 2 photos on top of some burlap and then started tucking some fussy cut pieces from the Lifetime collection. To tone down some of the color from the flowers, I just brushed on some gesso. I love this picture of Abigail and Caleb against the bricks. You will probably see more pictures like these because we spent a couple of hours in my hometown of Monroe, Louisiana doing a family photo shoot of my babies on New Years Eve of 2011. As I have always stated before, I skip around quite a bit when scrapping my photos.

This next page I finally completed this morning. I spent a couple of hours just trying to get the colors built up on the page. My first layer was stamping with 2 Prima stamps for some texture. Then I added more texture with some molding paste and a stencil from CW. Then I took my brand new purchase of Shimmerz sprays and started working on my colors. I wanted to bring out some of the colors from the photo. I especially wanted a lot of blues showing since my picture had those beautiful blue bonnets in it. After my background was to my liking, I started adding layers of papers from the Engraver collection. I kept spraying, then adding layers. It was truly a labor of love. When I started to add my flowers, I wanted to brighten up the page with blooms that were again, mimicking the colors of my photo. So, I pulled some flowers from different collections of Prima and I also had these perfect blue flowers from Petaloo.

Well, that is all for today!!!! I wish you a wonderful weekend! Please feel free to let me know what you think. I love hearing from you...believe it or not, it really makes my day!!!!

Pure Happiness

Hello Scrappers and Happy Good Friday to you all!!!!! I am enjoying my day with my baby girl! Every once in a while when all my guys are gone and it is just me and my girl, we like to stay in our jammies, curl up in the bed, and watch movies all day!!!! Believe me when I say, I treasure moments like this! Abigail is 13 now and thankfully still likes to hang out with momma!

So, today I wanted to share my recent layout of Abigail and my dear niece, Lauren. This fun little picture was taken 2 years ago on Thanksgiving day. The girls love for me to do photo shoots of them and they are always eager to strike a pose!!!! The papers I used are from the fab Prima collection called "Divine". I wanted to really bring out the purple and blue colors along with some hints of brown. I used some Lindy's sprays and then I pulled out my new paints from Shimmerz. I really must say I am in love with all of the Shimmerz paints and sprays!!!!! The colors are sooooo vibrant and shimmery!!!!! After layering my papers I then started to build my beautiful cluster of flowers. Add in a few trinkets, resin, and hemp twine and voila.....a so very lovely page of my girls to treasure forever!!!!!

I have found that I am totally in love with mixing my mixed media skills along with my scrapping. This style gives me all the texture and dimension that I so love on my pages!!!!!! I hope that if you ever have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment or send me an email. I would be happy to help you in any way that I can. But, if you just love my design, I would love to hear from you as well. You, my scrappy friends mean the world to me and when you leave your sweet comments, I completely feel wonderfully connected to you....you my wonderful friends who I share my art, my soul!!!!!!! Thanks to all of you and I wish you a very blessed and Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!

Good News.....I'm SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

Hello and Happy Monday to you!!!! I hope your day is going good so far. I had to battle Houston traffic this morning for a doctor's appointment and totally got lost on my way. Thank goodness I planned ahead and left an hour and a half early. Well, you would think that that would bum me out but you would be wrong!!!! Nothing can take away my joy today because I have some fabulous news to share with you. Drum Rolls.......Are you Ready????..........I have been invited to join the DT over at Scraps of Darkness!!!!!!!!!!! I am so freakin' ecstatic!!!!!! Melinda and Lisa totally made my weekend and today they are making the announcement on the blog HERE. If you haven't heard of them, where have you been?????? Well, let me clue you in...Scraps of Darkness/ Scraps of Elegance is a fabulous kit club where you can not only receive awesome kits, but you can join in on the forum, the gallery, and store!!!! It is a one stop shop of scrappy goodness!!!!!!!! I will be featuring my designs beginning in April so I hope you will join me and check them out for yourself. You won't regret it!!!!!! Here is what their March kit looks like......

Amazing, Right???!!!!!! Like I said, come on over, sign up today, and have some fun with me!!!!!

Now, as for something scrappy, here is a layout I did with Prima's Engraver line. I would say 98% of what you see is Prima except for a few little pieces...the dragonfly and bee are from Michael's as well as the title. This was a fairly simple design where I let the papers make the biggest impact. This line is absolutely perfect for guys yet so versatile for other projects.

Well folks, that's all I have for today! I wish you a happy scrappy day!!!!!

Just a Quickie....

Just wanted to stop by today to drop off a few layouts that I finished but never blogged about. I have so loved digging back into my scrap supplies and preserving memories that will last forever.

This first one is of my niece, Madisyn. Such an awesome moment catching her so unaware. Here I gessoed some dots with a stamp and used a new stamp from Prima for added texture. The papers are all Simple Stories. Just goes to show you can grunge up and distress almost any paper line. I love the measuring tape ribbon from Maya Arts and all flowers are Prima.

This next one is one of my absolute faves!!!!! It is of my beautiful mother! I used my Jan. kit from Swirlydoos plus some added embellishments that I already had in my stash. I completely love the finished result.

This last one is of my gorgeous youngest son. I used a line I found made by Jillibean Soup that was geared towards men. Added some stamped dots and texture in the background along with some sprays made by Lindy's Stamp Gang...love that stuff. No flowers were added but I am still happy with how it turned out and so was Caleb:)

That's all for now. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. I am currently in West Monroe, Louisiana spending our spring break with all of my family. Are you a Duck Dynasty fan???? If so, I am proud to say that they are from my hometown. You may think they are some crazy rednecks but they are some rich crazy rednecks so they must be doing something right. Did you know that Phil has a Master's Degree from Louisiana Tech and Willie also has a 4 year degree in business so that he could take over the business. Just a little tid bit of information if you are a fan....or not.

Ok, now I'm leaving....going to see Oz with my momma and my sister and my daughter....Girls Night. Hugs and lots of love to all of you!!!!!!

I'm Back.....

I'm Baaaaack!!!!! Wow, I really have ignored my blog for sometime now. I truly apologize, but I have been taking a much needed break. But now, after a year of playing primarily with canvases and mixed media, I have returned to my first love which is scrapbooking. My whole style of scrapbooking has evolved as I       am now incorporating mixed media with my layouts. I know that this nothing new to many of the other very talented artists out there but it is new to me. Where I once cringed at the thought of adding a flower to my pages, I now find it hard not to place a flower on my layout and I simply can't live without adding some texture and color to my pages with gesso, molding paste, and sprays. My scrapping area is over flowing with all the paints, sprays, and inks that I have been investing in this past year. My mojo is definitely in over drive and I can't spend a day without visiting the multiple sites, blogs, and galleries, to soak up all the inspiration that is out there.

So, with all that said, I will once again begin to blog and share my creations with you in hopes of maybe inspiring all of you and encouraging you to maybe try something different or stretch your imagination a little further "out of the box".

Here is my first page where I used the new Prima Lifetime collection. In the background I used one of the Prima dots stencil and molding paste. I then added some colors to coordinate with my photo using 3 different sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang....love their starburst sprays....full of luscious shimmer!!!!!

Another page using the Lifetime collection. I used a Prima chevron stencil with a chalboard glimmer mist. Then I splashed a little bit of color again from Lindy's. Love this picture of 2 of my kiddos with 2 of their cousins at my brother's wedding. They look so happy as we were all having such a wonderful day.

My last page is of my daughter last March sitting in a patch of blue bonnets. This page was saturated in texture. I used moding paste with glass beads and a hexagon stencil. Once it dried I went over the top of the hexagons with a white gelato, then white washed with gesso and used a Lindy's flat fabio in a brown color then a Lindy's starburst in turquoise and let it stream down my page. The paper  is primarily all Prima and I love the vintage hymnal sheet as it describes my daughter perfectly.

I hope you enjoy all my layouts and if you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment. If you just want to say "Hi" then please leave me a comment as well...I would love to hear from you!!!!!! Thanks for stopping by and I will be back tomorrow to share some more of my latest projects with you. Hugs xoxoxox
